A services contract from National Highways Limited, worth £352,000. Below: what it involves and how to write a winning bid for it.
Consultation undertaken as part of the Road to Zero Harm (RTZH) research project identified gaps in our knowledge related to the effectiveness of a specific set of longitudinal road marking types on safety outcomes (defined below). This work seeks to improve our understanding of how these longitudinal treatments influence driver behaviour, collision likelihood and severity outcomes. It will result in improved estimates of the KSI reductions that could be expected from these treatments on the Strategic Road Network (SRN). The outcome of this work will also provide recommendations (1) on the road types, site characteristics, and operating conditions where these markings are expected to deliver the greatest impact on KPI1 (Reduction in KSIs on the SRN); and (2) how remaining barriers to greater use of these markings could be overcome.
