Thirteen historic ponds, currently in poor ecological condition and supporting little biodiversity, have been identified for restoration by the Selborne Landscape Partnership and the South Downs National Park Authority. Works undertaken by the supplier will improve the capacity of these ponds to hold water, reduce shading and improve water quality. This is to increase the diversity of plant and animal species present within each pond and benefit species visiting these ponds, including birds, amphibians and mammals. This restoration work will additionally provide public amenity benefit and enhance the appearance of the landscape.
