Powys County Council sought to purchase three new four-wheel drive tractors for use on Trunk Road Cyclic maintenance, including carrying out grass cutting operations and occasional hedge trimming to ensure roads are kept in a safe and serviceable condition throughout the County of Powys. The machines are also used for other activities including ditching and as back-up for the Council’s winter maintenance activities between October and March. Due to the locations in which the Machines operate, the size of the Machine was an important consideration; many sections of the highway are not accompanied by a traffic control team when verge cutting. Due to budgetary constraints, the number of rear flail mowers purchased was reduced from three to two. The Council made an award of contract to the most advantageous bidder, RVW Pugh Ltd, in the notice ocds-h6vhtk-058c1d published 17th December 2025. Award of contract was confirmed on 12th January 2026 following conclusion of the standstill period.
