Great British Energy (“GBE”) is a company registered in Scotland, with the Secretary of State for the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (“DESNZ”) being the sole shareholder. GBE will be a publicly owned energy generation company. It will invest in, develop, build and operate the technology the UK needs to increase its energy independence and give communities a direct stake in the clean energy revolution. It will do this through its own initiatives but also through partnering and working collaboratively with industry, local authorities and communities and other public sector organisations, to spread skilled jobs and investment across the country. GBE has identified that it will have a number of requirements where it would require external third-party support to help GBE carry out its functions.
