Gateshead Council currently has a Contract in place for Older People's Residential and Nursing Care Homes, implemented in 2014. The Council is in the process of renewing this to introduce the new Contract for Residential and Nursing Care Home Contract for Ageing Well People in the Borough of Gateshead, which is due to go to Tender in June 2026. The Contract relates to the provision of Residential and Nursing Care across all Resident groups, including but not limited to people with general need, individuals with learning and/or physical disabilities, mental health conditions, autism, neurological needs, palliative care and end of life care funded by the Council. It is a requirement that the Provider will be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and must comply with any standards or conditions set by CQC as the regulatory body.
