The London Borough of Lewisham (LBL) is reviewing options for the future procurement of Extra Care Housing services for Lewisham residents. Lewisham defines Extra Care Housing as self-contained accommodation for adults with eligible care and support needs under the Care Act 2014. It enables residents to live independently in their own flat, with access to planned care and support, responsive on-site assistance, and overnight support where required. This model can provide an alternative to more restrictive residential or nursing care settings. The Council currently commissions Extra Care Housing services across four locations, supporting a total of 172 residents. One location supports 52 residents and three further locations support 40 residents each. The current arrangements are due to expire on 31 March 2028. The Council is seeking early expressions of interest from organisations that own, manage or have access to accommodation within the London Borough of Lewisham that may be suitable for use as Extra Care Housing from 1 April 2028.
