The Centre for Ageing Better is please to invite you to submit a tender for 'Developing culturally sensitive and inclusive Good Home Hubs'. We want everyone to be able to live in a safe, warm and well-maintained home. But we know too many people currently live in homes that are unsuitable, unsafe and could even endanger their lives. People from Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds, with disabilities, living in poverty and in certain parts of the country are significantly more likely to be living in a poor-quality or over-crowded home or one that does not meet their access needs. The Centre for Ageing Better's Good Home Inquiry sought to determine the causes of, and solutions to, the poor quality of so much of our housing in England. A key recommendation was to make sure that everyone has access to local delivery bodies that provide or signpost to information and advice, finance, home repairs, adaptations and energy efficiency services. We call this model a Good Home Hub. It is essential that the solutions we promote, such as the Good Home Hub, reflect the needs of at-risk communities both in terms of design and implementation.
