This project aims to develop a robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework for assessing how Environmental Land Management (ELM) schemes (Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI), Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier (CSHT) and Landscape Recovery (LR)) contribute to climate change adaptation, including responding to hazards such as flooding, drought, wildfire, extreme heat, storms, and coastal erosion. The project will have two phases, across two years. Phase 1 will build upon previous work to create an M&E framework, developing indicators and a monitoring plan which can be easily interpreted for future projects; Phase 2 will implement the developed M&E Framework, undertaking a detailed desk-based analysis to, where data allows, use historic and current AES uptake data to understand recent trends, or at a minimum create a baseline to which future change can be compared.
